TESTING SERVICES

HYGIENE DISPOSABLE TESTING CAPABILITIES

Rate of Acquisition and Re-wet test:  Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 070.9R1

Rate of acquisition: To determine the amount of time required for an absorbent article to absorb a fixed quantity of 0.9% saline solution.

Re-Wet: To measure the ability of incontinence products to accept and retain 0.9% saline solution under simulated in-use conditions of load and pressure.

Capacity: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 11948-1

The method measures the maximum absorption capacity of the absorbing material in the entire urine-absorbing aid. The urine-absorbing aid is weighed dry, soaked in test liquid, drained, and weighed wet.

Retention: National Association for Continence (NAFC) NWSP 570.10 Provisional

This method measures the ability of disposable adult incontinence products, specifically briefs, undergarments, protective underwear, pads, inserts and shields, to retain 0.9% saline solution after the disposable adult incontinence product is submerged for a defined period of time in 0.9% saline solution and then excess, interstitial saline is removed under mild pressure.

Retention: National Association for Continence (NAFC) Retention Capacity Method

This method measures the amount of liquid retained in a product after being subjected to liquid absorption capacity test (ISO Capacity Method 11948-1) then to centrifugal forces.

Leg Elastic Elongation: National Association for Continence NWSP 555.0R1 Provisional

This method evaluates an acceptable range of elongation values to confirm the presences of elastics around the legs of disposable adult incontinence products including briefs, belted undergarments, and protective underwear.

Surface Fluid Runoff: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 080.9.RO

This method describes the procedure for quantitatively evaluating surface effect of disposable diapers, training pants, adult incontinence briefs, and underwear.

Suspended Rate of Acquisition with Final Rewet: Absorbent Product Services internal method

Suspended Rate of Acquisition:  This method determines the amount of time required for an absorbent article to absorb a fixed quantity of 0.9% saline solution absorbed by a diaper suspended from a dosing apparatus.

Re-Wet: To measure the ability of incontinence products to accept and retain four consecutive measures of 0.9% saline solution under simulated in-use conditions of load and pressure.

Surgical Canister Solidification Test:  Absorbent Product Services internal method

This method describes the general procedure for measuring the absorbency rate of loose superabsorbent particles (SAP) to full absorption in a surgical suction canister.

SUPERABSORBENT POLYMER TESTING CAPABILITIES

Free Swell Capacity: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 240.0R2

This test method determines the free swell capacity of polyacrylate superabsorbent powders in saline.

Centrifuge Retention Capacity: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 241.0R2

This test method covers the determination of the fluid retention capacity of polyacrylate

superabsorbent powders in saline solution, following centrifugation

Absorption Against Pressure: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 242.0R2

This test method determines the capacity of polyacrylate superabsorbent powders to absorb saline solution under a specified enclosing pressure and has been validated over the range of 17,89 to 23,50 g/g under an applied pressure of 49 g/cm² (0.7 psi).

Absorbent Product Services internal method

This test method determines the capacity of polyacrylate superabsorbent powders to absorb saline solution under a specified enclosing pressure of 0.3 psi.

Permeability Dependent Absorption Under Pressure (PDAUP): Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 243.0R2

This test method measures the absorption capacity of polyacrylate superabsorbent powder, where permeability is a significant controlling factor under the conditions of the test.

Polymer Gel Speed Test: Absorbent Product Services internal method

The test describes the measurement of the time required for a known amount of superabsorbent polymer to completely absorb a known amount of 0.9% saline solution, while being stirred at a specific rpm, and form a smooth surface (no vortex) gel.

Polymer Gel Absorption Test: Absorbent Product Services internal method

The test describes the measurement of the time required for a known amount of superabsorbent polymer to completely absorb a known amount of 0.9% saline solution under static conditions.

Particle Size Determination - Absorbent Product Services internal method

This test method specifies a method for measuring particle size distributions up to 850 µm superabsorbent powders.

Moisture Content: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 230.0R2

This test method covers the evaluation of mass loss upon heating for superabsorbent powders.

pH of Polymer: Nonwovens Standard Procedure (NWSP) 200.0R2

This test method is for the determination of the pH of granular superabsorbent polyacrylates.
